Maya Bayham is a senior at the University of Montana, completing a BFA in Painting alongside a BA in Psychology. Her work has been exhibited at the University of Montana, the Zootown Arts Community Center, and the Maude Kerns Art Center, and is part of the ZACC’s permanent collection. She has always been interested in people, the ways we interact with each other, how we connect, and how we relate to the world around us. This naturally informs her artwork and is the main focus of her paintings. Much of her work focuses on the human figure in everyday life, capturing small exchanges, meaningful places, and memories that might otherwise pass unnoticed. Through oil painting, she preserves these moments as a personal time capsule while also inviting viewers to pause and reflect on their own lives, memories, and connections. In addition to painting, Maya also works in drawing and ceramics. Her drawings continue to explore the human figure, while her ceramics often incorporate surface decoration and imagery inspired by the natural world, reflecting her ongoing interest in the environment and its relationship to human experience.
